A few answers to keep things simple.
How do I make a card?
Choose an occasion and tap a card. Tap a line to edit the cover text, and drag it to reposition it. Add an optional personal message on the back, choose its appearance and how the card opens, then use Save & share.
Where does the video go?
CardMotion creates an MP4 on your device and opens the iOS share sheet. Choose Save Video to keep it in Photos, or choose Messages, Mail, or another app that accepts video. Closing the share sheet does not automatically save a copy to Photos.
Does the recipient need the app?
No. You send a normal video file, not a CardMotion link. Anyone who can play the video can enjoy your card.
What does “Written by hand” do?
It animates your message stroke by stroke in the finished video. You can choose the handwriting style. It uses the text you type; it does not capture your own handwriting.
Is everything really free?
Yes. Every current card, editing feature, and export is free. There is no subscription or trial. The optional tip jar is a thank-you and unlocks nothing.
How do tips and refunds work?
Apple processes tips as consumable in-app purchases. They do not renew automatically. To request a refund, visit Apple’s Report a Problem. Apple determines refund eligibility.
Why don’t I see Save Video?
Look through the actions in the iOS share sheet. Saving to Photos may require permission to add videos; you can review CardMotion’s Photos access in iOS Settings. CardMotion does not need access to browse your photo library.
What if the app closes or a video won’t export?
Reopen the app and try again. If it happens again, send us your device model, iOS version, app version, the card name, and the step where it happened. Sentry helps us investigate crashes, but a report may not capture every failure. Please do not include private card text.
Do you collect analytics?
We use PostHog for usage events and Sentry for crash diagnostics. Card creation happens on your device, and we do not intentionally collect the words you write. See our privacy policy for the data these services receive.
